Mountain Biking around Kathmandu caters to your interest in riding mountain bikes on the quiet dirt roads and learning the diverse culture and topography of the valley. The chaotic and colorful capital may not be appealing for mountain bike rides, but the outskirts of the valley with ridge-top trails will excite you. Encircling the valley’s rim, riders get to immerse themselves in the wilderness of the mountain villages, diverse cultures, and spectacular Nepalese Himalayas.
This one-week exhilarating sport allows you to enjoy the hidden corners around the valley rarely frequented by adventure lovers, giving you a chance to see the other side of the valley with magnificent long distant views of a series of different mountain ranges. Cycling through rural villages on the edge of the valley on the back trails with twists and turns, this journey gives you plenty of time to soak up the peaceful surroundings and a taste of Nepalese off-road biking with many uphill and downhill on the ridges over 2000 meters.
This cycling includes a tour in the city to the famous, popular medieval and historical sites of Kathmandu to the viewpoints - Nagarkot and Kakani, the spiritual sites of Budhanilkantha, Kopan, and NamoBuddha, and the ancient Newari towns of Dhulikhel, Balthali, and Panauti. Get a heart-touching view of glittering mountains namely Annapurna I (8091 m), Manaslu (8165 m), Ganesh Himal (7446 m), Langtang Lirung (7245 m), and many more other mountains, a clear view of Kathmandu valley and the stunning view of Rhododendrons blooming wild on the mountain slopes.
Aside from the mountains and villages, the rides go around the Shivapuri National Park, lavish with a huge species of wildlife and vegetation. Once inside the National Park the trail becomes narrow and technical. Without any doubt, it will be a stimulating experience to pedal through lush and clean forests, admiring the greenery and tranquility of nature. Traverse the jungle with a cliff drop on one side, and test your technical riding with some fast and furious downhill stretches. Also, you may come across several wild animals that have been preserved within the park.
Moreover, the bike tours range from a few hours of simple riding at any time of day to a full-day adventure cycle tour that includes bustling trails, uphill dirt trails, down thrilling single track, visits to rural towns, magnificent hilltops, and exploration of the Eco-National Park.
Note: If our pre-designed itinerary is non-matchable with your requirement, we, Himalayan Trekkers will tailor it for you as per your interest, time frame, and budget.

Best time to go Cycling around Kathmandu Valley
The greatest times to enjoy mountain riding in Kathmandu and around Kathmandu Valley are in the spring and fall. For the best weather and scenery, visit during March, April, May, September, October, or November. The valley is abundantly decked with blooming rhododendrons in the spring, which will take your breath away. Although the fall is drier than the spring, both seasons provide clear skies for soaking in the breathtaking sights. If you plan your dates carefully, you will be able to enjoy traditional holiday celebrations in either season.
Mountain biking is not recommended during the summer/monsoon season, which runs from June through August. The trails are muddy and untrustworthy on hot and humid days. The cold days of December through February will be quite hard for cycling as there is a chance of snow and ice on the upper hill, preventing you from riding the best trails.
