4 Days Lhasa Tour In Saga Dawa Festival Overview

When the star of Saga appears in the sky in the 4th month of the Tibetan lunar calendar, it is time for them to celebrate the grandest, holiest festival. The Saga Dawa festival is a month-long ordeal and is celebrated to commemorate the birth, enlightenment, and nirvana attained by Buddha Sakyamuni- all of which took place in the same month.

This is a picturesque celebration of the life of Buddha wherein pilgrims from all around the world gather to do Kora around the Jokhang Temple. And Himalayan Trekkers offers you an exclusive opportunity to witness this pompous celebration up close. Kora around Mount Kailash is also a holy affair for Buddhist pilgrims at this time of the year. It is a time when the Buddhists become more forgiving, give alms to the poor and release all kinds of animals into their natural habitats.

You can take this 4-day long tour through Lhasa in such a joyous time to participate in the festival by visiting Jokhang Temple, Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery.
